Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved cash support to workers and pensioners in the state, ahead of the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Following the Governor’s approval, each civil servant will receive the sum of N10,000 while pensioners will receive N5,000 each.
The Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Office of the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Bukar Kilo conveyed the governor’s approval in a statement on behalf of the Head of Service on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the gesture was aimed at reducing the effect of the current economic hardship and provide relief to the worker ahead of the festive period.
The statement further urged the workers to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture by remaining committed to their duties and pray for the governor’s success.
The statement partly reads: “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon Mai Mala Buni CON has approved the payment of one month palliative Bonus of N10,000 for Civil servants and N5,000 for Pensioners in the State.
“2. The cost implication stands at Three Hundred and Twenty Million Naira (N320,000,000.00) for State Civil Servants and Pensioners and Three Hundred and Seventy Five Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N375,900,000.00) for Local Govt Staff and Pensioners.
“The gesture is to cursion the effect of the current hardship and provides relief during the forthcoming Eid-El Kabir Sallah celebration.
“3. Civil Servants are expected to reciprocate this gesture of His Excellency by being committed to their duties and continously pray for the success of the Hon. Mai Mala Buni administration.”
