Zamfara State, Nigeria – The leadership of the Two Labour Centres (NLC/TUC) in Zamfara State has engaged in critical discussions with the State Accountant General concerning the recent salary disbursement intended for the celebration of Eid el Kabir.
In a statement released today, the Labour Centres clarified that the salary paid was for June 2024, not May 2024, as verified through payment alerts received by the workers.
Despite the State Government’s assurance that the Minimum Wage implementation has taken effect, reports have surfaced indicating inconsistencies in the salary payments. Some workers have observed no change in their pay, receiving the old salary, while others have reported a noticeable increase.
The Labour Centres are urging all affected workers to submit their salary-related complaints promptly. Complaints should be directed to the NLC and TUC for onward submission to the Accountant General, as discussed and agreed upon during the recent meeting.
Comrade Ahmed Abubakar, Acting Secretary of the NLC, and Comrade Rabiu Sabo, Secretary of the TUC, emphasized the importance of timely feedback from workers to address these issues efficiently. They reassured the workforce of the Congresses’ unwavering commitment to advocating for their rights and welfare.
