Kano Politics Could Destroy Your Presidency, Galadima Warns Tinubu

Buba Galadima, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding his potential interference in the political landscape of Kano state.

During an interview with Arise News on Monday night, reported by The Spectacles, Galadima cautioned Tinubu, emphasizing the precarious nature of Kano politics and its potential to jeopardize his presidency.

Galadima highlighted that influential politicians and wealthy individuals from Kano have approached President Tinubu, urging him to intervene in the ongoing legal conflict between Kano Governor Abba Yusuf and Nasiru Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the recent governorship election.

He drew a parallel with the enduring Boko Haram insurgency, suggesting that if a terrorist group could hold Nigeria hostage for over a decade, the complexities of Kano politics could similarly overwhelm Tinubu’s administration if mishandled.

“I want to tell the Federal Government, including my friend, President Bola Tinubu, that he should be mindful of Kano politics—it will destroy his presidency,” Galadima warned. “They never agree on any issue, and I have a deep understanding of Kano’s political dynamics from my time as the youth leader during the NPN era.”

He continued, “I know some very powerful politicians in Kano, including some affluent individuals, who met the president, proposing the removal of Abba Yusuf with assurances that nothing would happen. However, the president should question how they failed to win the election in the first place. If Boko Haram could hold Nigeria to ransom for the last 13 to 14 years, they should be cautious with Kano. We have matured politically in Kano, and I am not threatening anyone—just stating the facts.”

Galadima’s remarks underscore the potential risks of presidential involvement in Kano’s contentious political affairs and serve as a cautionary message to President Tinubu.
