JUST IN: Tapswap Indefinitely Postpones Date For Token Allocation

Tapswap, a popular tap-to-earn app powered by the TON Blockchain, has announced an indefinite postponement of its token allocation to users. The decision comes as the company seeks optimal ways to reward its tap-to-earn gamers. John Robbin, Tapswap’s Head of Communications, disclosed this update during a session on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday.

The app, which tasks users with repeatedly tapping an icon on the Telegram Tapswap bot screen to mine coins, has seen a surge in popularity, particularly among Nigerians. Since its launch on February 15, 2024, Tapswap has amassed over 50 million users.

Robbin explained that the method for token allocation is still being determined and stressed that the details cannot be communicated until finalized. “The token launch was postponed until July 1. The new date will be communicated. We will allocate a significant part of the tokens to the community to retain the tappers. We want you all to be part of the Tapswap community,” Robbin stated.

He emphasized the importance of a fair token airdrop, noting that discussions with various exchanges and platforms are underway to ensure a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Addressing concerns about exploitation, Robbin assured users that those found using unfair means to farm taps would be banned. He urged genuine tappers to remain patient.

Regarding the mining process, he explained, “Just open the app and tap on it; that will give you shares. The more you tap and the more upgrades you do, the more shares you will have when we finalize the tokens.”

Robbin also mentioned a booster option, which has ended. This feature was introduced to help new users compete with earlier adopters by allowing them to make a one-time donation to boost their earnings. “We introduced the limited x2 donation because the new influx of users kept coming in, and we needed them to make something out of it and get a fair allocation at TGE. It is gone for now, but we are looking forward to using the money we earned from it to improve the game in the future,” he said.

He highlighted that the funds are being used to support the 25 staff members working tirelessly to maintain the app, with plans to sustain Tapswap long-term. Robbin also encouraged new users to join the platform, assuring them there is still time to earn appreciable tokens.

The app has become a phenomenon in Nigeria, with users of all ages tapping away in hopes of financial rewards. Viral clips show people from all walks of life, including a Keke driver navigating traffic while tapping on his phone and traders in Northern Nigeria vigorously tapping their screens.

The indefinite postponement has left many users eagerly awaiting further updates, as they continue to accumulate taps with dreams of turning their digital efforts into tangible rewards.
