Shehu Sani Warns Sokoto Governor Over Alleged Plan to Depose Sultan

Shehu Sani, the former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has issued a stern warning to Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State amidst alleged rumors of a rift between the Sultanate and the state government. Sani cautioned against allowing the turmoil surrounding the emirship issue in Kano State to extend its reach to Sokoto, urging Governor Aliyu to safeguard the integrity of the Sultanate.

The concerns were raised by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) following speculations that Governor Aliyu was considering the deposition of Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III. This apprehension stemmed from the recent upheaval surrounding the removal of certain monarchs in Kano State.

Sani emphasized that the Sultanate is not the sole possession of Sokoto’s populace but a revered institution with numerous stakeholders. Expressing his appeal to Governor Aliyu, he stressed the importance of preserving the Sultanate’s stability and preventing it from succumbing to the challenges witnessed in Kano.

He underscored the significance of collective responsibility in safeguarding the Sultanate’s legacy and ensuring its continued role as a unifying force within the region.
