BREAKING: el-Rufai Files Lawsuit Against Kaduna Assembly Over ₦432b Probe

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has taken legal action against the Kaduna State House of Assembly following allegations that his administration misappropriated ₦432 billion during his eight-year tenure. The Assembly’s claim also suggests that the state was left with significant debt liabilities as a result.

On Wednesday, el-Rufai filed a fundamental rights suit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna. The suit, filed by his legal counsel, Abdulhakeem Mustapha (SAN), challenges the findings of the Kaduna Assembly Committee, which had indicted the former governor for alleged corruption.

The lawsuit seeks to address and contest the Assembly’s report, asserting that the allegations are unfounded and have caused significant damage to el-Rufai’s reputation. The former governor’s legal team is pushing for the court to nullify the committee’s report and declare it a violation of his fundamental rights.

Further details on the case are expected to emerge as the proceedings continue.
