Abducted Priest in Zamfara Sends Out Emotional SOS, Seeks Urgent Rescue

Mikah Suleiman, the abducted Parish Priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Damba, Gusau, Zamfara State, has made a desperate plea for help to regain his freedom. The priest was kidnapped in the early hours of June 22 from the rectory located within the church premises in Gusau, the state capital.

In a video that has been circulating online, Suleiman urgently called for help, expressing fear for his life. He explained that his captors have threatened to kill him, stating that they do not usually keep abducted individuals for long periods.

“I am pleading for help to be freed from this place. They told me that they don’t keep people here for long. People don’t stay for up to a week,” Suleiman said in the video. “They told me that killing a person is not difficult for them. They said they are just helping me by keeping me; please, I am asking for help.”

The priest’s distress was palpable as he continued his plea. “Please save my life in the name of God. Look at my head; look at my legs. I was tied to a rope, and I am the only one in this place. Normally, if they kidnap somebody, they don’t waste time. If ransom is not paid immediately, they kill the person. Please, for God’s sake, help me.”

The abduction of Suleiman has raised concerns about the increasing rate of kidnappings in Zamfara State and the safety of religious leaders in the region. Authorities are urged to act swiftly to secure his release and address the security challenges in the area.
