Gov Buni Offers ₦9m Scholarships, Laptops to Indigent Students

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the distribution of new laptops and ₦9,025,000 in scholarships to indigent law students from the University of Maiduguri Law School.

This approval was announced on Friday by the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board, Dr. Kagu Abubakar. According to Abubakar, the governor has allocated ₦475,000 to each of the 19 students as tuition fees to support their studies.

In a statement by Yusuf Ali, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Digital and Strategic Communication, Abubakar emphasized that the governor’s gesture aims to ensure that no Yobe indigene is deprived of the opportunity to attend law school due to financial constraints. The initiative is also intended to bolster the state’s manpower in critical areas of human resources.

Abubakar urged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the state and to work hard to justify the governor’s confidence in them. He stated, “On the mandate of His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, we have dispatched 19 graduates from the University of Maiduguri for their law school studies. Each student is paid ₦475,000 for registration and provided with a new laptop to support their studies.”

He concluded by encouraging the students to excel in their studies and to remember their future role in nation-building.
