Extending Humanitarian Gesture It’s In Gov Bala’s Character – Women Commissioner

The Bauchi State Government has said that it is up and doing on issues bordering humanitarian assistance to citizens in need, especially who found themselves in abnormal condition such as in the recent case of a Bauchi-based restaurateur, A’isha Ibrahim.

The State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development, Hon. Hajara Jibrin Gidado have this indication when referring to the case of the restaurateur who fell into a deceptive but unsigned contract for the supply of food worth N7.5 million to an NGO for a sensitization training programme in three LGAs of Bauchi, Alkaleri and Kirfi.

Restaurateur A’isha Ibrahim was lucky for the Bauchi state government to have settled the expenses she incurred in procuring the food which was left unclaimed by the contract placer, Babajide Aiyegbusi, an admin officer with the NGO.

Commissioner Hajara Gidado explained that the Bauchi state government has for quite some time now been extending such humanitarian gestures or services, only that the media was unaware of such incidents until when the incident of restaurateur A’isha Ibrahim came to light lime through a viral video.

Hon. Hajara Gidado recalled that the gesture is not new to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who had for a long time now been extending such humanitarian services to the vulnerable members of the society, mostly to those incidentally found themselves in okra soup.

The commissioner explained that Governor Bala has been offering humanitarian assistance under his special programme tagged, “Laura Rapid Response” to which a lot of citizens have benefitted.

“Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has right from his ministerial appointment been offering such a gesture, but was only more pronounced after he assumed the mantle of leadership in Bauchi. The gesture is a day-to-day affair of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state’, Hajara stated.
