Kidnappers of Rarara’s Mother Demand ₦1billion Ransom

Bandits have kidnapped Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of renowned Hausa musician Dauda Adamu, known as Rarara. They are demanding a ransom of ₦900 million for her release.

A source from Kahutu, preferring anonymity, revealed that the abductors initially demanded ₦1 billion. They contacted the family using a phone taken from another woman during the abduction.

“The abductors first asked for ₦1 billion but reduced it to ₦900 million after brief negotiations with a family member. They wanted to deal with Rarara directly, but because of his illness, they settled on negotiating with another family member. They assured the family that Hajiya is unharmed and will be released once the ransom is paid,” the source explained.

The brief interaction between the bandits and the family has not been followed up with additional communication, but negotiations are presumed to be ongoing.

Describing the abduction, the source mentioned it was meticulously planned. The bandits had a photograph of Hajiya to ensure they took the right person. They compared the photograph with the faces of all the women in her bedroom before identifying her. When asked for money, Hajiya pointed out a small amount in her bedside drawer, but the bandits decided to take her with them instead.

The kidnapping has shocked the Kahutu community, where Hajiya is well-regarded for her generosity. “Hajiya is like a mother to everyone here. She has supported numerous families and orphans, sponsoring many marriages. No one in the village has not benefited from her kindness. She always helps anyone in need,” the source added.
