Kano: Emir Ado Bayero Leads Key Religious Event at Mini Palace

The Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation is currently observing its annual ‘zikr’ prayer session at the Nassarawa mini palace. This significant religious event is held every last week of the Islamic calendar and is dedicated to praying for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria.

The annual zikr is organized under the auspices of the Supreme Council of the Tijjaniyya movement in Nigeria, led by Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. Sayyadi Ibrahim Dahiru Usman Bauchi, representing the leader of the Tijjaniyya movement, plays a pivotal role in these sessions.

One of the highlights of the Tijjaniyya practice is the Friday ‘dhikr,’ a prayer observed by adherents every Friday from Asr prayers to Maghrib prayers. This tradition has a deep historical connection to Kano, where the Supreme leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, once met the late Alhaji Ado Bayero, the 13th Emir of Kano. The late emir’s endorsement of the Friday dhikr to pray for the nation’s peace and stability every Muharram has made it an annual event that strengthens the unity of Muslims.

Since then, the Muslim community from around the world converges on Kano annually to participate in this spiritual gathering. This year’s event has attracted attendees from various regions, including Sokoto, Nguru in Yobe State, Bauchi, Zaria, Kebbi, and Gombe, among others.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, graciously hosted the visitors, continuing the legacy of his predecessor and underscoring the importance of this religious function in fostering unity and spiritual growth among Muslims.
