Kano Police Command Convenes Legal Team for Strategic Meeting

The Kano State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Salman Dogo Garba, held a strategic meeting with its legal team on Thursday, according to a statement released on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

The meeting aimed to reinforce adherence to the rule of law, aligning with directives from Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun to ensure legal compliance across all police commands and formations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DCP Abubakar Abdullahi Shika, spearheaded the meeting. The discussion addressed various critical issues related to policing and legal procedures, emphasizing the importance of the Police legal department in ensuring legally sound operations, building strong cases, providing quality legal advice, diligent prosecution, and protecting the rights of citizens, particularly suspects under investigation.

Commissioner of Police Salman Dogo Garba emphasized the significance of the legal team’s work in pursuing justice and fairness. He instructed the team, led by CSP Sunday Ekwe Osuji, Officer in Charge of the Command’s Legal Section, to safeguard the rights of both officers and civilians. CP Garba also highlighted the need for enhanced collaboration with legal institutions to streamline judicial procedures and improve overall outcomes.

“The legal team plays a pivotal role in our operations, ensuring that we adhere to legal standards and protect the rights of all citizens. Our commitment is to uphold justice, fairness, and accountability in all our actions,” stated CP Garba.

The Commissioner reiterated that the meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the Kano State Police Command to serve the residents of Kano with professionalism and accountability.
