No Govt Response to Report on Zamfara Gov Losing $6.3M Private Jet to Scammers

It has been 24 hours since the People’s Gazette reported that Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal was defrauded of $6.3 million by a shady Nigerian couple. Despite the report’s continued circulation on social media, there has been no official denial from government representatives. If untrue, it is crucial for government media personalities to refute the story promptly to prevent the opposition from leveraging it against the Dauda Lawal administration.

Remaining silent on such allegations could be perceived as an implicit agreement with the People’s Gazette’s report. Should the story be false, it is imperative that the government take immediate legal action.

The People’s Gazette reported the following as obtained by The Spectacles:

“Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has been defrauded of a private jet worth $6.3 million by a cunning pair of aviation business executives based in Lagos, sources say. Governor Lawal, previously a banker at First Bank of Nigeria Plc, purchased the aircraft through Jet Leasing Support Services Ltd, owned by the now-estranged couple, Ovi and Gloria Osazele.

Fearing scrutiny over how he amassed the funds, Governor Lawal did not report the scam to authorities. He had secretly registered the jet under the couple’s name, paying them $250,000 as a broker fee. The couple’s fallout led Ovi to change the jet’s ownership to his name and flee to the United States. Gloria later sought asylum in Canada, citing threats from her ex-husband over the jet.

The Governor’s silence and the lack of responses from his press secretary and the couple have left the matter unresolved. Governor Lawal’s previous involvement in the Diezani Allison-Madueke scandal and accusations of money laundering add further complications to his political career”.

The absence of a government response has fueled speculation and demands for clarification. As the story continues to gain traction, pressure mounts on Governor Lawal to address the allegations and take appropriate legal steps if necessary.
