In an effort to combat the persistent security challenges in Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration has instituted a ban on motorcycle movements during nighttime hours. The restriction, covering all 14 local government areas, will be enforced from 8 PM to 6 AM starting Monday, July 15, 2024.
This decision was made during a security council meeting held in Gusau, chaired by Governor Lawal. The state government emphasized that the ban is strictly for security purposes, aiming to curb criminal activities frequently linked to motorcycle use after dark, and is not intended to single out any individual or group.
Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media (Broadcast), relayed the announcement, underscoring the critical need for this measure to enhance public safety and security in the region.
