On Friday, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) announced changes to its logo and slogan, attributing the confusion caused by the old logo to its loss in the 2023 general elections.
The party has replaced its old logo, which featured a green background with a touch of blue and a basket of agricultural produce, with a new design that has a red and white background featuring a book and an academic wig.
Additionally, the party’s slogan has changed from “Peace, equity and progress” to “Education for all.”
Presenting the new logo and slogan at a news conference, Acting National Chairman Dr. Ajuji Ahmed mentioned that due to logistical reasons, the old logo would still be used on the ballot for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, while the new logo will debut in the Ondo governorship elections.
Dr. Ahmed stated that the new logo and slogan, unveiled at the party’s National Executive Committee meeting in April, have been approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said, “History is being made here today, as a new dawn has arrived for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). The Party is today presenting its new logo to Nigerian voters, which henceforth will adorn ballot papers in every election in Nigeria, following the approval of the logo by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).”
“The unveiling of the logo was done at the National Executive Committee meeting of the Party on Friday, April 5, 2024, and the National Convention on Saturday, April 6, 2024. We are now presenting the logo to Nigerian voters as the symbol to look for on ballot papers when voting for NNPP in any election held in Nigeria.
“With the approval of the new constitution, which includes our new logo, flag, and slogan, NNPP is now entrusted to the Nigerian people to manage. It is no longer a party managed by a few transactional politicians. Not anymore.”
