Aisha Abubakar, a women leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, has confessed to acting as an informant for bandits. She revealed that she received only ₦5,000 out of ₦9 million and a motorcycle paid as ransom to the bandits.
Abubakar admitted to organizing the kidnapping of five family members of the Tsaiyaya Ward APC chairman. In a widely circulated video, she detailed how she provided information leading to the kidnapping of Alhaji Sanusi, his two wives, and three children in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Abubakar also confessed to participating in a cattle rustling operation, for which she was paid ₦20,000.
“I was approached by one Zainab, now at large, to provide information on Alhaji Sanusi and the chairman’s family to facilitate a successful kidnapping operation. After the ransom, including ₦9 million and a motorcycle, was paid, I received ₦5,000, with a promise of an additional ₦15,000 after returning from a wedding ceremony in Zaria.
“Other key actors within the Tsaiyaya community were Yahaya, Audu na Bani, and the children of Bashar.
“I was also a key informant in the successful cattle rustling in Tsaiyaya some time ago, for which I received ₦20,000,” Abubakar confessed.
