BREAKING: Police Arrest Fugitive Prisoner Linked to General’s Murder in Kano

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested Hashiru Baku, the mastermind behind the murder of Brigadier General Harold Udokwere.

Udokwere, the National Chairman of the Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, was killed by armed robbers who invaded his residence on June 22, 2024, and stole his gun.

On June 24, 2024, the police arrested and paraded Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu in connection with the crime.

Addressing journalists on Monday while parading the arrested suspects, FCT Commissioner of Police Bennett Igweh announced that Baku was apprehended in Kano State while attempting to flee the country.

Igweh revealed that Baku had escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre. “I previously showed you the four killers, kidnappers, and robbers responsible for the murder of Brigadier General Harold Udokwere. Today, I present to you the organizer of this heinous act,” Igweh stated.

He continued, “We have recovered the general’s gun, his wristwatch, and his wife’s jewelry, which were stolen during the robbery. The mastermind, who had escaped during the Kuje Correctional Centre attack, continued his criminal activities with even more audacity.”

Igweh added, “We apprehended him in Kano as he was attempting to leave the country. We also found drugs in his residence, which they use to stay high.”

Further details will be provided as they become available.
