BREAKING: Explosion Tragically Kills Six Nigerian Soldiers

An explosion in a Nigerian military vehicle has tragically killed six soldiers on board.

The incident occurred on Thursday in the Mugunu area of Maiduguri, Borno State, when the vehicle struck a buried explosive device.

According to Sahara Reporters, the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) is suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram along the Gamboru Ngala-Maiduguri Road.

The Army had received a distress call early Thursday that Boko Haram terrorists were attacking a neighboring community. In response, the commandant ordered the deployment of three vehicles carrying armed soldiers to the scene.

Tragically, one of the vehicles struck an explosive device in the Mugunu area, resulting in the loss of all but one of the soldiers on board.

A military source said, “They were called that a neighboring community was under attack by Boko Haram. The commandant ordered them to respond. They moved in a convoy around 5 am. The first and second vehicles passed, but the third vehicle hit the explosive device, causing it to explode and killing six soldiers.”

“We are awaiting the official report as they are collecting the remains and preparing to notify the families,” the source added.
