FG Bolsters Border Security to Prevent Infiltration During Nationwide Protests

Ahead of the nationwide rallies scheduled for August 1st against bad governance, the Federal Government has intensified security measures at all national borders.

According to Politics Nigeria, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has directed all Zonal Heads, State Command Comptrollers, and Divisional Immigration Officers (DIOs) to bolster their border patrol and alertness.

This action aims to prevent foreign elements from entering the country to participate in the protests, stated DCI Kenneth Udo, the Service’s Spokesman.

The Immigration Service has mandated its personnel to perform their duties with the highest levels of professionalism and patriotism, temporarily suspending all leave applications.

“The Comptroller General emphasized the Service’s duty to safeguard the nation’s gateways. Officers, particularly Heads of Border Commands, are tasked to ensure that no foreign elements exploit the protests to destabilize the country,” Udo said.

“She has directed the temporary suspension of all leave applications and urged officers to demonstrate utmost professionalism and patriotism in their duties during and after the protests, reminding them that Nigeria is the only country we have.”

The CGIS assures Nigerians of the Service’s readiness to secure the nation.
