In an official update from the Kano State Police Command, it has been confirmed that looted items have been recovered following attacks by hoodlums during the #EndBadGovernance protests in Kano State.
Around 10:00 AM today, several groups, under the pretext of joining the nationwide protest, carried out coordinated attacks on various establishments across the state, severely disrupting public order.
Key incidents included attacks on multiple supermarkets located in Nassarawa Quarters, leading to substantial property damage and theft.
Additionally, there was an arson attack at the NCC office within the Audu Bako Secretariat, near Government House Kano, where several motor vehicles were set on fire. Prompt intervention by authorities has since brought the fire under control.
In the wake of these disturbances, the police have arrested 157 suspects linked to the criminal activities. Among the recovered items was an AK-47 rifle, found at the High Court, along with a significant amount of looted property retrieved from the suspects.
In an effort to restore peace and protect the community, the Kano State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew. The Kano State Police Command continues to closely monitor the situation and remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
