A massive crowd of protesters from Mararaba, Nasarawa State, was halted by Nigerian security forces on Thursday as they attempted to march into the Asokoro district of Abuja.
In the early hours of Thursday, the protesters blocked the Mararaba-Nyanya Expressway, expressing their frustration over the worsening economic conditions under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The demonstration began at Mararaba Bridge, with the protesters marching through Nyanya in Abuja and advancing towards the Asokoro district. However, their progress was abruptly stopped by armed security operatives, who deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd, forcing them to retreat.
Further details are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
