The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters have regrouped at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, following a tear gas attack at the Berger roundabout.
Shortly after the protesters and journalists were dispersed with tear gas, the demonstrators reconvened at the stadium, where they vowed to continue their protest until the Federal Government meets their demands.
Upon their arrival, the protesters chanted their determination to remain steadfast in their cause. One of the protesters, identified as Tari, condemned the police’s actions, emphasizing that they would not be intimidated.
“The police must explain why they are harassing us. There is hunger in the land, and we are resolute. We will remain on the streets until the President listens to us,” Tari stated.
Another protester, Michael Zayi, expressed his disappointment in the government’s response. “When a child cries and the parent doesn’t listen, the results are never favorable. We are peaceful protesters. The root of the problem is that if the President had listened to us, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”
Zayi continued, “Hope is alive when persistence is in motion. The worst thing in life is not death but hunger. People are hungry. No amount of tear gas will stop us from demanding better lives for ourselves.”
