BREAKING: Organizers Condemn Police Assault on Abuja Protesters

The ‘Take It Back Movement,’ one of the key organizers of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, has strongly condemned the recent police attacks on demonstrators gathered at the Berger Roundabout in Abuja.

Early Friday, police officers stationed at the roundabout used tear gas on protesters and journalists who had assembled for the second day of the protests.

Damilare Adenola, the Director of Mobilization for the Take It Back Movement, issued a brief statement in response to the incident. Adenola criticized the actions of the police, describing them as a clear indication that the administration’s claims of upholding democratic principles are “nothing but a facade.”

Adenola warned that the continued disregard for human rights would only further incite frustration and anger among the already suffering population, who he said, “will not be silenced.”

“Today’s brutal harassment of peaceful protesters at Berger Junction by the police is a stark reminder that the Tinubu administration’s claims of democracy are nothing but a facade,” Adenola stated. “Despite donning the garb of freedom, its actions reek of tyranny. This blatant disregard for human rights will only serve to further provoke the already impoverished and hungry Nigerians, who will not be silenced.”

Further details are expected to emerge.
