BREAKING: President Tinubu to Address Nigerians on Sunday

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to address the nation in a broadcast on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 7:00 a.m.

This announcement was made by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement released on Saturday. The statement, titled “President Tinubu to Address the Nation,” urged television, radio, and other electronic media outlets to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.

Ngelale also noted that the broadcast will be repeated on the network services of the NTA and FRCN later that day at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

This address comes amid ongoing protests across Lagos, Oyo, Abuja, and several other states, where demonstrators are demanding, among other things, the reversal of the recent fuel subsidy removal and the reduction of the soaring prices of goods and services.

The ‘End Hunger’ protests have been marred by incidents of looting, particularly in Kano and other northern regions. The police are currently pursuing the culprits and have already recovered some stolen items.
