Hunger Protests to Intensify from October 1 if Demands Are Not Met – Lawyer

JP, a legal practitioner, announced that the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests will resume on October 1, 2024, if President Bola Tinubu does not address the protesters’ demands.

He made this statement on Sunday while speaking to journalists at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota, Lagos State.

In a video shared by News Central TV and seen by our correspondent on X.com, the lawyer stated, “The president has spoken, and we should wait to see what action he will take. If the president commits to reducing fuel pump prices or lowering the cost of foodstuffs, we will be informed. However, we will wait until October 1. If he has not implemented his promises by then, we will resume protests.”

The lawyer also warned he would sue any police officer who assaults him.

On Sunday morning, President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation amid the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, calling for dialogue and an immediate end to the demonstrations that have been ongoing since Thursday.

Tinubu stated that his administration is prepared to listen to and address the concerns of the protesters, affirming that he has heard their demands “loud and clear.”

“I urge protesters and organizers to suspend further protests and allow for dialogue, which I am always open to,” he said.
