Protests in Lagos Reach Day 5, with Half-Dressed Man, Others Still Demonstrating

Protesters under the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement resumed their demonstrations at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota, Lagos, on Monday. The protests, which have now entered their fifth day, reflect growing dissatisfaction with the state of governance in the country.

The protesters voiced their disappointment with President Bola Tinubu’s recent national address, delivered on Sunday. Many described the address as “unfortunate,” criticizing the president for taking three days of nationwide unrest before speaking to the nation.

Footage circulating on social media captured a striking scene at the protest site: a half-dressed man among the demonstrators, chanting in Yoruba, “We are angry, we are hungry.” The image of the man has quickly become emblematic of the frustration and desperation driving the movement.

Juwon Sanyaolu, tweeting under the handle #AyowoleSanyaolu, urged more people to join the protests, writing, “Protest has started in Ojota; if you are still home, you are wrong!”
