Nasarawa Gov Vows to Implement ₦70k Minimum Wage Amidst Economic Strains

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has affirmed his readiness to implement the new ₦70,000 minimum wage for civil servants in the state. This announcement was made by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, during a media briefing.

Ahemba stated that Governor Sule has already approved the payment of the new minimum wage, which is expected to commence soon. “Governor Abdullahi Sule is more than ready to pay the ₦70,000 minimum wage, as passed into law and assented to by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His Excellency, Engineer Sule, is committed to the welfare of workers and the overall development of the state,” Ahemba emphasized.

He also praised the youths of Nasarawa for their decision to abstain from the ongoing protests seen in other parts of the country, opting instead for dialogue. “The government of Abdullahi Sule is aware of the current hardships faced by everyone, and steps are being taken to address these challenges through youth engagement and entrepreneurship training as part of the administration’s industrialization agenda,” Ahemba added.

Governor Sule urged the youths to remain patient, assuring them that his administration is actively working to create employment opportunities through its industrialization policy, which is already showing positive results.

Addressing recent allegations of fertilizer diversion by government officials, Governor Sule vowed to take strict action against any appointee found guilty. “The federal government recently sent trucks of fertilizer to be distributed free of charge to farmers across the state, and Nasarawa has received and distributed these supplies across its 13 local governments. However, there have been allegations of diversion in three local governments by some officials,” Ahemba revealed.

Governor Sule has directed security agencies to conduct a full-scale investigation to identify those responsible. “No appointee under my administration will be spared if found guilty of such sharp practices. We have zero tolerance for corruption, especially among those entrusted with public service,” the governor warned.
