Cleric Advocates for Prayerful Intervention to Address Bad Governance in Nigeria

Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, the Founder of The New Seraph, has emphasized the power of prayer as a solution to end bad governance in Nigeria. In a statement released on Wednesday, Yomi-Sholoye criticized the current state of the nation, advocating for peaceful solutions over violence.

During the church’s 6th Night of Divine Experience (NODE) held on Tuesday in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos, Yomi-Sholoye called on Nigerians to continue praying fervently for their leaders and the country. She encouraged citizens to remain calm, support one another, and urged the government to address the demands of protesters.

“Prayer can end bad governance in Nigeria. God has said, ‘Cast your burdens upon me,’ and He does not tire. There is nothing that prayers cannot solve. God is the supreme king, and He can pacify, control, dethrone, or remove any leader unless He is not the Creator,” she stated.

Yomi-Sholoye urged patience and faith in divine intervention, stressing that God has His own timing. “Let us be patient. God has many ways of resolving issues, and He says, ‘My ears are not deaf, my eyes are not blind.’ He will act at the right time. My advice is to be patient and hope for the best because we cannot afford to be refugees in other people’s countries if we create conflict.”

Addressing the Nigerian government, Yomi-Sholoye appealed to President Bola Tinubu to tackle the country’s pressing issues. “Mr President, I humbly appeal to you to address the pressing issues that have led to this moment: reduce the cost of living and address inflation, provide affordable fuel and electricity, create jobs and opportunities for the youth, ensure accountability and transparency in governance, and protect the rights of all citizens.”

Yomi-Sholoye also highlighted the church’s upcoming five-day prayer event, NODE 6.0, themed ‘Good News,’ as an opportunity for divine encounters. Set to begin on Wednesday, 14th August 2024, the gathering will include prayers, seminars, and impactful sessions, culminating in a grand finale on Friday, 19th August, running from 6 pm until dawn, featuring a special youth hour.

She announced that the event, expected to attract no fewer than 300,000 worshippers, will take place at The New Seraph Prayer City, located at Kilometre 60, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, by Sapade Overhead Bridge, Ode Remo, Ogun State. Free transit will be provided for Seraphs and non-Seraphs nationwide, while believers in the diaspora can stream the programme on the church’s social media pages.

Additionally, Yomi-Sholoye encouraged Christians to engage in politics, noting that their involvement is essential for their voices to be heard in the country’s decision-making processes.
