Kano Govt Allocates ₦502 Million for Water Pump Procurement

The Kano State Government has approved a budget of ₦502 million for the procurement of 10 water pumps, which will be installed at the Tamburawa and Chalawa water treatment plants. This decision was made during the 17th meeting of the State Executive Council, held on Tuesday at the Government House in Kano.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the spokesperson for Governor Abba Yusuf, Sunusi Bature, the approval highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure and services in the state.

“The procurement of these water pumps is part of our ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and public services in Kano State,” Bature stated.

He emphasized the importance of the Tamburawa and Chalawa water treatment plants in supplying clean water to Kano’s expanding population. The introduction of new, high-capacity pumps is expected to significantly increase the efficiency of these plants, ensuring a more consistent and reliable water supply for residents.

“This investment will help address current challenges and meet the growing demand for water across our communities,” Bature added.

In addition to the water pump procurement, the council approved several other infrastructure projects, reaffirming the government’s dedication to comprehensive development throughout the state.

“These initiatives are designed to enhance public services and infrastructure, contributing to the overall well-being and economic growth of Kano,” Bature said.

He further stated that the approval of these projects reflects the administration’s proactive approach to resolving water access challenges and improving the quality of life for the citizens. The state government, he added, will continue to prioritize investments in key sectors to support sustainable development and ensure essential services are accessible to all residents.
