EndBadGovenance: Nationwide One-Million-Man Protest Planned for Saturday

The Take It Back Movement (TIB), a key organizer behind the nationwide EndBadGovernance protests, has announced a major demonstration scheduled for Saturday, August 10. The protest is expected to take place simultaneously in all 36 states of Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, Mr. Sanyaolu Juwon, the National Coordinator of TIB, confirmed the plans for the protest. “The Take It Back Movement, alongside other organizers and organizations, will on August 10 lead a monumental one-million-man protest in each of the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” he said.

This protest marks a significant moment in the ongoing EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign, which officially began on August 1, 2024. Originally planned as a 10-day protest, the movement has gained momentum and evolved into a widespread and sustained campaign, attracting participants from across Nigeria and the diaspora.

The protests, which began on August 1, were organized to draw attention to the severe hardships facing Nigerian citizens. Despite being marred by incidents of violence and criminal activity in some areas, the protests have seen significant turnout, particularly in northern states.

President Bola Tinubu, in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday, urged protesters to stand down and allow his administration more time to address their concerns. However, demonstrations have persisted in Abuja, Kano, and other parts of the country, reflecting the deep-seated frustrations among the populace. The nationwide protest is set to culminate on Saturday, August 10, with the planned one-million-man march.
