Internal Conflicts: PDP Forms 25-Member Reconciliation Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as the chairman of its newly established 25-member National Reconciliation Committee. Former Gombe State governor, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, will serve as the committee’s secretary.

This move comes as the PDP continues to grapple with internal strife following their defeat to the ruling All Progressives Congress in last year’s general elections. The party’s leadership is hoping the committee will help mend fractures within the party.

In a statement released on Friday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, announced the formation of the committee and stated that its inauguration would be scheduled at a later date. Ologunagba explained that the National Working Committee took this action following approval from the National Executive Committee.

The statement also mentioned that Chief Anicho Okoro has been appointed as the committee’s Administrative Secretary. Other notable members include Chibudom Nwuche, Alhaji Bello Tafidan Gusau, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, Dr. Esther Uduehi, Senator Zainab Kure, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Alhaja Mutia Olayinka Ladoja, Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu, and Ude Oko-Chukwu.

Additional members are Dr. Boyelayefa Debekem, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, Chief Dan Ulasi, Abdulsamad Dasuki, Segun Showunmi, Amina B.B. Faruk, Alhaji Hamza Akuyan Koshe, Mike Ikoku, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, and Bisi Fakayode.

“The committee will be inaugurated on a date to be communicated in due course,” the statement read.

The PDP’s National Working Committee urged party leaders, stakeholders, and members to stay focused and committed to the party’s vision and principles, emphasizing that unity is essential for the growth, development, and stability of both the PDP and the nation.
