Kano Residents Turn to Prayer on Day 10 of Nationwide Protests

As the nationwide protests entered their tenth day on Saturday, residents of Kano State sought divine intervention, holding special prayers to address the numerous challenges facing the nation.

Despite pressures to cancel the session, the residents proceeded with the prayer gathering at the Isyaku Rabiu Mosque in the Goron Dutse area of Dala Local Government.

Rabiu Shamma, a local resident, shared a brief video on Facebook showing the prayer session. He captioned it, “A Quranic recitation from Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu Mosque, Goron Dutse, Kano, for a prayer for the situation our country is in. May we find solace. Amin.”

Reports indicate that similar prayers were held in various areas across Kano, including Gyadi-Gyadi, Hausawa, Daurawa, Yankaba, Sabon Titi, Panshekara, and Tudun Murtala, among others.

These prayer sessions took place despite an earlier announcement by one of the organizers, Mubarak Ibrahim, who had called for their cancellation due to security concerns.

It’s worth recalling that the protests in Kano, which began peacefully on August 1, escalated into violence, resulting in injuries, looting, and the destruction of both public and private properties across the state.
