Zamfara Medical Association Elects New Executive Committee

The Zamfara State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has successfully elected a new set of executive officers to steer the organization’s activities for the next two years. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the outgoing Chairman, Dr. Sanusi Bello, in Gusau.

The election of the new officers took place during the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held on Saturday, August 10. Dr. Ibrahim Jibril-Hano was elected as the new Chairman of the Zamfara NMA chapter, while Dr. Mohammed Murtala-Salahu will serve as the Vice Chairman. Dr. Hussaini Haruna was chosen as the Secretary.

Other elected members of the executive committee include Dr. Patrick Okoli, who will serve as Assistant Secretary, Dr. Aminu Alhazzai as Treasurer, and Dr. Ogunbuyide Oluwadare as Public Relations Officer. Dr. Abdul-Azeez Samaila was elected Welfare Secretary, and Dr. Sanusi Bello, the immediate past chairman, will continue to contribute as an ex officio member.

In his statement, Dr. Bello extended his congratulations to the newly elected officers, urging them to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability as they carry out their responsibilities. He expressed confidence in their ability to lead the association effectively, ensuring that the NMA continues to advocate for the welfare of its members and the improvement of healthcare delivery in Zamfara State.

The successful election is seen as a significant step forward for the NMA in Zamfara, as the new leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy to tackle the challenges facing the medical community in the state.
