In it’s bold effort to tackle unemployment, the Zamfara State Government, in partnership with an independent non-governmental organization (NGO), has announced plans to employ one million youths across the state through skill acquisition programs. This initiative is set to be completed within the first tenure of Governor Dauda Lawal.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi, disclosed this during a phone-in program called Jirgen Ceto on Pride FM Radio in Gusau today.
In a statement signed by Suleman Aliyu, Information Officer for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, the Commissioner explained that the state government would initially train 100,000 youths after making all necessary arrangements as directed by the NGO. The program is expected to commence very soon, insha’Allah.
The Commissioner also stated that youth associations would play a significant role in the selection process of beneficiaries, working in collaboration with their respective Emirate Councils and local government areas across the state.
Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi further added that, at the start of the program, female participants will constitute 60% of the beneficiaries, while the remaining 40% will be allocated to men.
After completing three months of training and acquiring the necessary skills, each participant will be provided with capital to start their own business.
The Commissioner also urged the youths in the state to continue offering special prayers and supporting government policies and programs to achieve the desired objectives.
