Ganduje Responds Kano Govt, Addresses Allegations of Missing Corruption File

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has responded to allegations from the Kano State government accusing him of orchestrating the disappearance of a corruption case file from a courthouse.

Ganduje vehemently denied the claims, instead accusing the state government of inciting the violence that led to the file’s disappearance. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje dismissed the allegations as baseless and absurd, arguing that the state government was attempting to shift blame to cover its own failings.

“We find the allegations that protesters looted and absconded with ‘sensitive documents’ relating to the ongoing corruption trial of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to be both baseless and comical,” Olofu stated. He ridiculed the notion that demonstrators could have specifically targeted and stolen documents from a courthouse, suggesting the claims were part of a broader propaganda effort by the Kano government.

Olofu questioned the whereabouts of the documents held by government lawyers and accused the state government of lacking the capacity to manage the state’s affairs, resorting instead to repeated, unfounded accusations of corruption against Ganduje and his family.

He further alleged that the violence was a product of the Kano government’s own actions, claiming that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had incited unrest to destabilize the state and tarnish the image of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. “It is laughable that governance in Kano state has been reduced to a huge joke,” Olofu added, criticizing the governor for allegedly fueling the protests.

Ganduje called for a federal investigation into the matter, demanding that those responsible for the violence and the disappearance of the file be held accountable. He urged the federal government to take swift action against what he described as the Kano State Government’s reckless and irresponsible behavior.

“We strongly condemn this attempt to destabilize Kano and tarnish the good image of our President,” Ganduje said. “The sponsors of this violence must be brought to justice to ensure that this does not set a dangerous precedent for other states.”

Ganduje’s statement underscores the escalating tensions between his administration and the current Kano State government, as both sides continue to trade accusations in the aftermath of the unrest.
