Sowore Mocks Council of State Meeting, Labels It as ‘Failure Meeting With Failure’

Activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has sharply criticized the recent Council of State meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, characterizing it as a gathering of “a failure meeting with a failure.” The meeting, which saw the presence of President Bola Tinubu and his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, was the first of its kind to be presided over by Tinubu since his assumption of office.

Sowore, a former presidential candidate under the African Action Congress (AAC), took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his disdain. In his post, he described both Tinubu and Buhari as failed leaders, stating, “Today in Abuja at the Presidential Villa, a former failed President @MBuhari had a meeting with the current failed President @officialABAT.”

The Council of State meeting brought together several key figures, including former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, who attended in person. However, former Military Heads of State, Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar, participated virtually. Notably absent from the meeting was former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who neither attended in person nor joined virtually.

The meeting had a significant agenda, during which President Tinubu received commendations from members of the Council of State. The council members notably condemned the “EndBadGovernanceInNigeria” protests that have been critical of the current administration, offering their support to Tinubu’s government.

Sowore’s scathing remarks highlight the ongoing dissatisfaction and tension within Nigerian political circles, as well as the skepticism surrounding the leadership of both past and present administrations. His comments reflect a broader sentiment of disillusionment among some segments of the population, who remain critical of the country’s political elite.
