Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has announced that the state’s Community Guard Corps is being equipped to bolster security in rural areas. He made this disclosure on Friday during a thank-you visit to Kebbe Local Government Area, part of his tour across four local government areas in the Sokoto South Senatorial Zone.
Addressing the community, Governor Aliyu noted that the challenges related to inadequate office accommodations, which previously hindered the Corps’ operations in the thirteen local government areas most affected by banditry, have now been resolved.
“We have provided the Corps with all necessary logistics to operate effectively in our local communities. We have recently completed office accommodations for the Corps,” he stated.
The governor urged residents to continue supporting the Corps to ensure they can carry out their duties effectively and diligently.
In addition, Governor Aliyu addressed the pressing issue of the Kebbe bridge, which is on the verge of collapse. He ordered an immediate assessment for its reconstruction to prevent the Kebbe community from being cut off from other parts of the state.
The governor also highlighted ongoing projects in Kebbe Local Government Area, including the installation of 250 solar-powered street lights and the renovation of two Jumuat mosques. Additionally, two feeder roads are set to be constructed in the area.
While visiting Tambuwal, Governor Aliyu assured the community that the Alhasan-Fagga-Bakaya road project, awarded at a cost of 2 billion Naira, and the Prison-Yagawal-Na Baguda road, costing 2.6 billion Naira, will be completed. He also promised to construct the Jega-Samo, Romo-Kaya-Barga, and Gudul-Kandamare-Rijiya roads within the local government.
In Shagari Local Government, the governor pledged to construct the Dandin Mahe-Mabera, Era-Rijiyar Malam, and Ginga Junction-Horo Birni feeder roads. He also announced plans to renovate two Jumuat mosques in the area.
Earlier in Yabo, Governor Aliyu reiterated his administration’s commitment to constructing the Kilgori-Kwaidaza, Magacci-Ruggar Kizo, and Bingaje-Beno feeder roads, as well as renovating the Yabo Jumuat mosque.
During the tour, APC leader in the state, Aliyu Wamakko, praised the governor for the various people-oriented projects implemented across Sokoto State, describing his first year in office as transformative. Wamakko highlighted improvements in road networks, water supply, environmental sanitation, education, healthcare, empowerment, and the promotion of religious affairs.
Former Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammadu Dingyadi, also addressed the community, urging continued support for the present administration to ensure further development across the state.
