ZSUBEB Conducts CBT Exam to Screen Candidates for ES Positions

The Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), under the leadership of Professor Nasir Garba Anka (Makaman Sokoto South), recently conducted a Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination for 72 staff members. This examination marks a significant step in the board’s efforts to select new Education Secretaries for the fourteen local government areas in the state.

In a statement issued to The Spectacles by the ZSUBEB’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Musa Maizare, detailed the development. He noted that the current move comes in the wake of a long-standing void in the state’s education system, where the positions of Education Secretaries have remained vacant since 2011-2012. Over the past eleven years, the state has resorted to appointing caretakers to fill these crucial roles temporarily.

The Executive Chairman of ZSUBEB, Professor Nasir Garba Anka, has formed a special committee to address the challenges facing basic education in Zamfara State, as part of a broader state of emergency declared in the education sector by the government. This initiative is aligned with the administration’s focus on revitalizing education under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawali.

Alhaji Garba Abdullahi, the Director of Academic Services for ZSUBEB and a member of the committee, emphasized the critical need for competent leadership in the education sector, particularly at the grassroots level. He highlighted the collaboration with the National Teachers Institute (NTI) in conducting the examination, ensuring that it meets the necessary educational standards.

Abdullahi commended the foresight and commitment of the Executive Chairman, affirming the committee’s dedication to selecting the most qualified candidates for the role of Education Secretary. He expressed optimism that the appointment of capable individuals would lead to significant improvements in the quality of education across the state.

The CBT examination was meticulously supervised by a committee comprising representatives from ZSUBEB, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the State Quality Assurance Agency, the Teachers Service Board, and the Chairman of ZSUBEB. The examination took place at the Gusau Trade Center, marking a pivotal moment in the selection process aimed at reinvigorating the educational landscape in Zamfara State.
