BREAKING: NLC threatens Nationwide Strike Over Detention of Ajaero

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a strong warning of a nationwide strike if its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, is detained by the Nigeria Police.

This announcement came on Tuesday morning following an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the NLC headquarters. The meeting was convened to address the police’s recent invitation to Ajaero, who has been accused of terrorism financing.

The NEC resolved that while Ajaero should cooperate with the police by attending the scheduled meeting, the union’s legal adviser would request additional time for him to appear.

Speaking on the matter, Comrade Ado Kabiru Sani, Deputy President of the NLC, urged the nation’s workforce to remain on alert for further instructions, should the police detain Ajaero.

“We are a committed and responsible labor center, and we will honor the police invitation,” Sani stated. “However, we are working with our lawyer to secure an extension. If our President is arrested, all workers nationwide will immediately go on strike. Please await further directives from our leadership.”
