Gov Yusuf Offers Resettlement Allocations to Farmers in Kano Housing Project

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has commenced the distribution of resettlement allocation letters to farmers affected by the development of two new cities in the state. This initiative serves as compensation for those whose lands were acquired for the projects.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, the allocation includes 2,483 plots in Yargaya and Rijiyar Gwangwan within Dawakin-Kudu, and 1,671 plots in Unguwar Rimi and Lambu in Tofa local government areas.

In his remarks, Governor Yusuf emphasized that these new city projects are part of a broader strategy to reduce congestion in Kano metropolis and establish sustainable urban centers with essential amenities. He highlighted the potential of these projects to drive socio-economic growth and enhance the quality of life in the affected areas.

The governor urged local communities to embrace the development and offer their full support to ensure the projects’ success. He also praised the role of community and traditional leaders in facilitating the compensation process and assured the public of a transparent and efficient resettlement exercise.

Governor Yusuf further revealed that the Federal Government plans to build an international-standard conference center in the area, alongside a federal housing scheme that will initially include the construction of 500 houses, with a long-term goal of building 1,500 houses.

Additionally, the Kano State Government is planning to remodel, rebuild, and equip security towers at the entrances of Kano metropolis to enhance security and safeguard residents’ lives and property. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to decongest Kano metropolis and promote urban expansion.
