The Biafra Government in Exile (BRGIE), led by Simon Ekpa, has announced December 2, 2024, as the date to unveil its proposed map for the 40 United States of Biafra and issue a formal declaration.
Ekpa, who identifies as the Prime Minister of BRGIE, made this announcement on Tuesday via a statement released through his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He emphasized that this move is a critical step toward the realization of Biafra’s independence.
“The Biafra Government is presenting the complete map of Biafra in preparation for the 2nd of December 2024,” Ekpa stated.
Both Ekpa and Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have remained at the forefront of the campaign for Biafra’s secession, despite strong opposition from the Nigerian government.
In his latest efforts, Ekpa has enlisted the support of former U.S. lawmaker and lobbyist, James, in an attempt to gain backing from the U.S. government for Biafra’s independence bid.
