In the early hours of this morning, bandits attempted to storm Yankara, a town in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State. However, their assault was met with fierce resistance from soldiers stationed in the area, resulting in a prolonged exchange of gunfire that lasted for more than two hours.
The attempted incursion has led to the temporary blockade of Yankara, preventing residents and travelers from entering the town. Tensions remain high as security forces continue to secure the area.
Reports indicate that eight people were injured during the attack, with the victims now receiving treatment at both the Comprehensive Health Care Center and a private clinic in Yankara. Among the casualties is a member of the Joint Task Force (JTF), according to a local resident who spoke with The Spectacles.
As the situation develops, the people of Yankara remain on high alert, while authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
