NEMA Provides Relief to Gusau, Sokoto Market Fire Victims with Food Distribution

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has provided relief assistance to the victims of recent market fires in Gusau and Sokoto, distributing assorted food items as part of the federal government’s effort to support those affected.

According to a statement by Aliyu Shehu-Kafindangi, head of NEMA’s Sokoto operations office, the relief distribution took place on Saturday in both Zamfara and Sokoto states.

“The food items were distributed to the victims of the Gusau and Sokoto market fires that occurred earlier this year. This initiative by the federal government aims to support the livelihood of those affected,” Shehu-Kafindangi stated.

NEMA coordinated the simultaneous distribution in both states, with teams ensuring that relief reached the affected individuals. Shehu-Kafindangi personally led the distribution in Zamfara on behalf of the agency’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar, while the head of NEMA’s search and rescue unit, Aminu Ambursa, oversaw the efforts in Sokoto.

The distribution exercises were conducted in partnership with the Zamfara Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters and the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency.
