The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that married female prospective corps members who have been assigned to states where their husbands do not reside can request a redeployment. This option aims to support the families of married women during their service year.
The NYSC made this announcement on Monday through a post on X.com, advising the affected corps members to take action promptly.
“Attention all 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II married female prospective corps members,” the NYSC stated. “Those deployed to states where their husbands are not domiciled should report to the nearest NYSC Orientation Camp for a change of state of deployment.”
Married female corps members are instructed to report during the registration period at the orientation camps and present copies of their marital and other relevant documents as evidence. Once processed, the change will be reflected on their dashboard for reprinting.
The NYSC, established on May 22, 1973, is a scheme by the Nigerian government to involve graduates in nation-building and development. The program, created under Decree No. 24, was designed to foster unity among Nigerian youths.
Eligibility for the NYSC requires graduates to be under 30 years old at the time of graduation. Those over 30 receive a Certificate of Exemption, which is equivalent to the NYSC Discharge Certificate. Successfully completing the service year earns corps members a Certificate of Satisfactory Participation.
