BUA Partners with Turkish Firm to Expand Wheat Flour Milling Capacity

BUA Foods Plc has announced a strategic partnership with Turkish manufacturer IMAS to significantly enhance its wheat flour milling capacity. This collaboration aims to boost BUA Foods’ production capabilities to 2.5 million metric tonnes per annum.

The agreement, detailed in a company statement, outlines the construction of four advanced wheat and flour milling factories. These new facilities will collectively add 3,200 tonnes per day to BUA Foods’ milling capacity, enabling the company to achieve its target of 2.5 million metric tonnes per year.

BUA Foods views this expansion as a critical step in strengthening its market position in Nigeria and exploring new markets. Since its listing on the Nigerian Exchange, the company has pursued a broader growth strategy, with this latest development being a key component.

The new factories are expected to not only bolster BUA Foods’ manufacturing capabilities but also contribute to Nigeria’s food security by increasing the availability of high-quality flour products. The formalization of the partnership took place at a ceremony attended by senior executives from both BUA Foods and IMAS.

Abdul Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Foods Plc, emphasized that the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to improving food security in Nigeria. “These new factories will significantly enhance our capacity to produce high-quality flour products and will create additional job opportunities across the country,” Rabiu stated.

Rabiu also highlighted that the investment would provide BUA Foods with the flexibility to meet diverse flour requirements in the market.

IMAS Vice President Mustafa Ozdemir expressed that the partnership aligns with their goal of expanding access to affordable and nutritious food across Africa.
