Kaduna Police Crack Down on Suspect Supplying Military Uniforms to Bandits in Niger

The Kaduna Police Command has apprehended a suspect involved in supplying military camouflage uniforms to bandits operating in Niger State. The suspect was intercepted with 15 unsewn military camouflage uniforms, alongside two other individuals suspected of car theft.

According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s spokesperson, the arrest took place on August 25 during a routine patrol and stop-and-search operation on the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna highway. The officers discovered a leather bag containing the camouflage materials in the suspect’s vehicle. Upon questioning, the suspect confessed that he was en route to deliver the uniforms to an individual in Udawa village. The uniforms were intended for bandits operating in the Chukuba area of Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State.

“The suspect is currently cooperating with the police as they work to apprehend other accomplices who are still at large,” said Mr. Hassan.

In a related development, Mr. Hassan reported that on Tuesday, during a routine patrol around 12:00 p.m., police officers in Makarfi encountered a group of armed robbers who had blocked the road using logs and stones. A gunfight ensued between the police and the robbers. The superior firepower of the police forced the robbers to flee into the surrounding bushes. One of the robbers was neutralized during the exchange, and a locally-made pistol along with one cartridge was recovered.

The police are currently conducting a search operation in the surrounding area to apprehend the remaining robbers.

Additionally, Mr. Hassan revealed that the police had responded to a report by one Abdulaziz Abdulmumin, who reported the theft of his blue-black Toyota. The vehicle was later spotted in the Hayin Dan Mani area of Igabi LGA, Kaduna State. Acting on this information, the police successfully arrested two suspects, Abdul Mukhtar and his accomplice Mamman Ahmad, who resides on Zoo Road, Kano.

Ahmad was found driving a Mercedes Compressor with registration number AKD 547 GY, which is also believed to be stolen. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to using a master key to steal vehicles. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full scope of the suspects’ criminal activities and identify any additional accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, commended the officers involved in these operations, assuring the public that the command remains committed to eradicating criminal activities within the state.
