The Federal Government has disclosed the identity of a Canada-based woman, Amaka Patience Sunnberger, who recently made inflammatory and threatening remarks against Nigerians of Yoruba and Benin descent.
In a video that began circulating on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, a woman is heard making derogatory and threatening comments in a virtual TikTok meeting. Speaking primarily in Pidgin English, she openly threatens to poison people of Yoruba and Benin backgrounds.
“Record me very well; it’s time to start poisoning the Yoruba and the Benin. Put poison in all their food at work. Put poison in their water, make them die one by one,” she declared.
The woman, who claimed to reside in Ontario, Canada, vowed to bring toxic substances to her workplace to harm any Yoruba or Benin individuals she encountered. She justified her comments as a reaction to what she described as “hate” against the Igbo people. The video also captured other participants interjecting and encouraging her statements.
Addressing the other participants, she said, “I want the Igbo people to develop a heart of wickedness. You are too quiet. Enough is enough! If you have any means to eliminate them, do it.”
In response to the video’s circulation, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, identified the woman as Amaka Patience Sunnberger on Wednesday.
“This is the picture of the lady behind the voice. Amaka Patience Sunnberger,” Dabiri-Erewa stated. She further noted that Sunnberger had deleted her TikTok account and that a group of Nigerians in Canada is officially reporting her to the relevant Canadian authorities.
