JUST IN: Ajaero Back at Labour House After Honouring Police Invitation

Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), has returned to the Labour House after responding to an invitation from the police. Ajaero appeared at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday morning, accompanied by prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, and other supporters.

The police invitation, reportedly linked to an investigation involving allegations of terrorism financing, sparked widespread controversy. The NLC and other labour unions accused the Federal Government of attempting to intimidate and silence labour leaders through such actions.

Prior to Ajaero’s meeting with the police, members of the NLC had gathered at the organization’s headquarters in a show of solidarity. From as early as 8 a.m., labour leaders and workers converged at the NLC headquarters, rallying in support of their president. Videos shared on the NLC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account showed leaders addressing the crowd, reaffirming their unwavering support for Ajaero during the tense moment.
