Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, on Wednesday, officially launched a 200-hectare housing project in the New Millennium City, a venture in partnership with Urban Shelter, aimed at addressing the state’s pressing housing challenges.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the Urban Shelter Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area, was led by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, who represented Governor Sani. The governor emphasized that the project is designed to provide affordable housing solutions for the poor, vulnerable, and underserved communities, underscoring his administration’s dedication to reducing the state’s housing deficit.
“Housing is not merely a structure; it is a pillar of human dignity,” said Governor Sani. He outlined several strategies his administration has implemented to address housing challenges, including partnerships with local and international investors, the introduction of a social housing scheme, and the strengthening of the Public Housing Corporation.
The governor highlighted that the project is expected to significantly improve the lives of citizens and exemplify the government’s commitment to social responsibility. He urged investors to explore the opportunities within Kaduna’s housing sector, assuring them of strong government support.
“Our collaboration with both local and international investors has been pivotal in addressing our housing challenges head-on,” Governor Sani stated. “I commend Urban Shelter for recognizing the potential of Kaduna State and prioritizing it in its investment strategy.”
He noted that Urban Shelter’s development of over 25 hectares of land in the Millennium City, through both Phases I and II, has laid the groundwork for this new 200-hectare project, initiated under a Development Lease Agreement with the Kaduna State government.
Governor Sani encouraged further investment in the state, offering a strong assurance that such ventures will benefit from a robust policy framework and unwavering government commitment.
