Kaduna: Troops Neutralize Eight Bandits, Recover Weapons in Birnin Gwari

Troops of Operation Whirl Punch successfully neutralized eight bandits during a combat patrol in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed that the operation also led to the recovery of a cache of arms, ammunition, and motorcycles. According to Aruwan, the troops encountered and eliminated seven bandits in the Kampanin Doka area.

The items recovered from the operation include three AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines loaded with 120 rounds of ammunition, a magazine carrier, six motorcycles, three mobile phones, two Baofeng radio sets, and three pairs of civilian clothes.

During the same patrol, troops engaged another bandit in the Gayam area, successfully neutralizing him, while others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State praised the troops for their bravery and the significant progress made in combating banditry. The commissioner reiterated that fighting patrols will continue in Birnin Gwari and other areas of concern to ensure the security of the region.
